Pantone’s Color of the Year 2015: Marsala

Every year a handful of representatives from various nations’ color standards groups gather together to choose a hue to release as the official “Color of the Year”.  After two days of presentations and debating, these experts vote to decide upon a color that will heavily influence design, fashion, floral trends, interior decoration, and much much more for the upcoming year.  The results are in and the Color of the Year for 2015 is…Marsala!

For those unfamiliar, Marsala is an earthy, red-brown tone inspired by the wine with which it shares its name.  A rich and full-bodied color, marsala can be paired with neutral tones to bring warmth into a space, or it can be positioned alongside even brighter colors to promote a more playful atmosphere.  This hue is sure to be seen in many upcoming floral and wedding trends so we thought we might compile a few blooms that may share the same hue as the color of 2015!

Among these flowers are antique hydrangea, burgundy calla lilies, mokara orchids, burgundy dahlias, amaryllis, burgundy freesia, and many more!  So be sure to keep an eye out for these florals as we head into our wedding season this year!
